I♥Faces {Hands}

My Grandfather's Hands:
Working in a saw mill as a young man, he had his caught up in one of the blades, losing his index finger completely and permanently fixing his middle finger curled. He never let it stop him doing what he loved. Playing his guitar.
In her old age, my grandmother suffered several strokes. The last stroke she had took most of her mind back to being a young woman, and took her sight completely. My grandfather would visit her in the hospital every day. She would tell him he was a very nice stranger to visit her, as her husband left her. (She seemed to think he had left her.) He tried his best to convince her that he was her husband, but as she couldn't see him, she didn't believe. Only when he would take her hand in his did she remember him. By his scars and disfigurement, she remembered him. I regret that I never got the opportunity to capture their hands together before she left us.
